Just back from Dr. Pastore (my friendly, ever optomistic Hematologist) and my platelets are down 100pts (from 420 Monday to 320 Today) but still well within safe range (200-500) so I'm set for the weekend and still scheduled for the Rituxan Drip #3 Monday! This is all good news!
I am feeling good today, got about 4 hours of sleep despite the Prednisone last night. Its sunny in NYC and it feels wonderful on my skin :)

Brief Medical Overview
November 30th, 2008 Lauren was Diagnosed with TTP, an extremely rare auto-immune disease of the blood. Her disease is life threatening and un-curable, however once caught and treated accordingly TTP patients can be brought into a stable remission and can be monitored safely around a relatively normal life.
She was admitted to New York Presbyterian Hospital ER in grave condition then held, diagnosed and treated in the ICU for 3 days, followed by general treatment for the remainder of one week. This facility and her Lead MD helped develop the leading treatment for TTP, and are some of the most knowledgeable professionals about a very little known disease.
Lauren responded well to her initial treatment, then was re-admitted 2 weeks later with an early relapse. Currently she is out of the hospital at home in NYC on Medical Leave of Absence from her work, and undergoing weekly treatments in the effort toward a stable remission.

I simply cannot express how much it meant to me to receive the plethora of love and support that filled my hospital room and apartment for weeks! Thank You Thank You Thank You to everyone!! For the cards with words of encouragement that made me feel so good when it was really bad. For the baskets and boquets of lovely scented flowers that made my room (and apartment for weeks after!) an eden in the middle of winter! For the notes, phone calls, texts, emails that popped up continuously like little angels reminding me that I am loved and have a life outside of this illness that I will be back to soon :)
Thank you, for everything from the bottom of my heart! You have all helped me immensely to get to the point of recovery that I have thus far. This condition is never going to be fixed by medicine. I will only ever feel well if I my soul is sound, and that is what your love and support gives me!
